Christy's Photo

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the same city where one of my all-time favorite painters, Mary Cassatt, was born. After growing up in Virginia, I returned to Pennsylvania to study at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh from 1986-88. I received a degree in fashion illustration but chose to pursue my interest in portraiture instead. As a portrait artist, I'm largely self-taught, though I've had the wonderful experience of attending workshops with Everett Raymond Kinstler at The Art Students League in New York and at Loryn Brazier's workshop here in Richmond. During my years as a portrait artist, I've also worked as a courtroom illustrator for CNN and Richmond's WTVR Channel 6.

My husband Kerry and I currently live in Bon Air with our two children Noah and Lilah, our dog Blue (whom I've taught quite an array of impressive tricks!) and our beautiful blue parakeet Mr. Perry Winkle. My studio is in downtown Richmond near the beautiful and historic Jefferson Hotel.

I've always been fascinated by people and am very sensitive to the beauty in their expressions. It is a privilege and an honor to be the artist chosen to do a loved one's portrait. I consider myself fortunate to be able to do work that I enjoy!
